Music Education
My Path is Inspired by Those Who Came Before Me. |
I have been surrounded by teaching all my life. My parents have taught a wide range of classes, from those offered at an all boys boarding school to the education found in a small town. Seeing them teach and being impacted by other teachers has made me want to go into the field of education. But more important than those is the desire that I have to help future generations realize their passion and pursue it wholeheartedly. For me that passion is music and I want to help my future students find their passion, whether it be music or not.
Through the impact that I will have on my students I hope to show them that it is good to make mistakes as long as you learn and grow from them. I have made many mistakes throughout my life thus far and hope to make many more so that I can become a better person. I also want my students to be able to see that you don’t have to be perfect in order to be successful. This is what I believe the purpose of teaching is, to instill passion in students as well as show them it is okay to make mistakes as long as you learn from them.

I believe that that is the purpose of teaching because that’s what I’ve seen throughout my career as a student. This is an idealistic view of what kind of teacher I want to be, and I hope that that view doesn’t go away.

A Leader Inside and Outside the ClassroomThrough teaching students to follow their passion I hope to be a leader in my studio, school, and community. As an instructor, I will be a leader in the fact that I will raise up new leaders within the music community. I will help students find their ability to lead and impact others. I hope to be someone who leads other teachers and shows administration how important the arts are. I will do the same thing in the community by having my students play in schools, showing people that students who participate in the arts are better rounded individuals.
